Workshop Description

Road to mountain in colorful, whimsical art-style

Learning to read and write is an astonishing journey of discovery! Beginners deserve a trail guide who knows how to expertly and imaginatively leads them along the path.

This inspired guidance must not only be founded on an understanding of the phases of literacy but also on how children learn best – through imaginative introductions to the Land of Letters and Words, fun hands-on activities, and differentiated experiences so that each learner walks the path at their pace and with the provisions they need.

Since 2020, the Waldorf Inspirations team has been dedicated to supporting teachers and parents with exactly that – creative Waldorf literacy workshops for teachers in Grade 1, 2, and 3.

We are excited to announce that coming this summer we will be offering our newly designed 3-day live online workshops that include even more opportunities to experience for yourselves this developmentally aligned, imaginative Waldorf approach to sequential phonics instruction. In our grade-specific workshops you will prepare for your literacy teaching journey by:

  • Learning why English is so challenging to teach and what is needed for children to become enthusiastic and curious readers and writers.
  • Navigating and discussing the literacy goals, main lesson curriculum, and practice blocks of your grade.
  • Engaging in demonstration lessons that weave all the important literacy strands into an imaginative tapestry for the children to experience.
  • Experiencing fun and effective practice activities, songs, tongue twisters, poems, and more to bring back to your classroom.
  • Receiving plenty of resources – lesson examples, games and activities, assessment tools, and differentiation ideas – to use throughout the school year.
  • Having your questions answered!
